Under their direction, the hula studio is now named Ka Pā Hula Nā Pua O Kamali'i. The name of the Hālau means "Perpetuating Our Cultures" because they are dedicated to seeing Hula and Polynesian dances live on through their teaching and their students. We are fortunate that they are also continuing on as being the only traditional Hawaiian/Polynesian dance school based in Houston Texas.
In late 2017, Ka Pā Hula Nā Pua O Kamali'i was opened in Las Vegas Nevada. Kumu Nani and Alapa'i look forward to sharing their traditional Hula and Polynesian songs and dances through Hula and Polynesian classes, community involvement, workshops, classes of cultural learning and protocol.
Kumu Nani and Alapa'i's training and teachings come from a long line of nā Kumu Hula and Polynesian instructors (from their native islands) who were eager to share their culture and dances with them. In respect, Kumu Nani and Alapa'i share their 'ike and mana'o with their students.
Our Kuleana is to perpetuate our Hawaiian and Polynesian cultures, to share our Aloha and mana'o through community service, teaching, cultural learning and performance.
Our Piko is Ke Akua and Iesu Kristo.
The Hālau has participated in numerous community events, provided entertainment for public/private events and celebrations, and has participated and competed (and won) at many competitions in the United States.
We hope that whether you are new to the Hula and Polynesian arts, or you're a natural trying to find an 'ohana in Houston or Las Vegas-- you'll join our halau and continue this legacy with us.
